The date 14 January is fixed up for the celebration of the colorful kite’s festival all over Rajasthan and specially the capital city of Jaipur. And same was the year 2012, filled with complete joy and happiness for the people of all the age groups. From old age elders to the young children all were completely dipped in the colors of celebration. The fast beats of music and from almost every rooftop were audible in different societies throughout the city.
There is much number of kites flying in the sky then ever before. Apart from the simple kites there were different ones with the pictures of movies, bollywood stars and the politicians printed on them. The pictures with the social message and posters were also very commonly available in the market.
The kite flying scenes are worth enjoying by the tourists as this is a very unique concept and festival celebrated exclusively only in Rajasthan. Prior it was just an event celebrated by individuals and enjoyed at their homes, but since last five years it has taken a shape of international festival also known as the Desert Kite Flying in which there are certain competitions organized and also biggest kite was recorded as 1.5 km in size till date. Every year there are new records set and registered. This festival is conducted for 3 days. The first two days there are different competitions held on the basis of different categories and the winner are announced and the last third day is for the kites exhibition and prize distribution ceremony for the winners. The venue for the third day is Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.
This festival is worth enjoyable by tourist as the scenic beauty of the whole sky is filled up with the shimmering colors of kites.
